Exploring the Reality of Gender
A Half Day with Eloise Luke Mayton and JoAnna Harper
August 6, 2016
10am – 1pm
This interactive workshop will explore our ideas, perceptions, and lived experiences of gender through meditation practice, group exercises, and discussion. There will be opportunity to explore our own experiences of gender and to investigate how the reality of gender plays out in the culture around us. We will look at how supporting and understanding the experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming people in sangha can deepen our understanding of ourselves, each other and this world.
What does it mean to embody our intersecting identities in light of the Buddha’s teachings on conditioned arising and the changing, impersonal nature of experience? How can we can we engage with gender in a way that supports us on the path to freedom?
This event is open to people of any and all identities and experiences. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend.
