An LGBTQI Day of Refuge
A Daylong Retreat with John Martin
Saturday, February 4th
An LGBTQI Day of Refuge. With the changes in the world following the recent election, coming together in community offers a place of refuge, for safety, protection and support. The day will include silent sitting and walking periods with instructions, and will include opportunities for sharing feelings and intentions in this challenging time. The Buddha taught the importance of both retreating into silence, as well as speaking up for the oppressed and being forces of love and kindness in the world. The Buddha was sometimes an activist for peace.
Open to all.
Cost: $35-75 sliding scale, plus dana (donation) to support the teacher. Scholarships are available. No one turned away for lack of funds.
John Martin teaches Vipassana (Insight), Metta (Loving Kindness), and LGBTQI themed meditation retreats. He leads an on-going weekly meditation group in San Francisco, teaches an Advanced Practitioners Program group and is the guiding teacher for the LGBTQueer Sangha at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City. He has had a dedicated practice while being engaged in the working world and emphasizes practice for daily life. He completed the SRMC/IMS/IRC 4-year teacher training in 2016.
