The Four Seals of Buddhism
August 1, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm PDT
An event every week that begins at 7:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until August 2, 2017
A Four Week Class Series with Scott Tusa (Tenzin Namsel)
Tuesdays beginning July 11th
7:30-9:00pm; Santa Monica Center
All compounded things are impermanent, all emotions are painful, all phenomena are empty of self-existence, and nirvana is beyond extremes. These are the Four Seals of Buddhism. In general, these four seals, or characteristics are what distinguish Buddhism from the infinite ways we can view our internal and external worlds. In practice, these ‘seals,’ become a path to work with our everyday perceptions, thoughts, and emotions, bringing greater efficacy in overcoming mental and emotional habits that cause us unnecessary suffering. In this series, we will explore these four seals together through periods of teaching, meditation, and discussion.
Open to all.
Class dates: July 11, 18, 25, August 1
Cost: $20 per class or $70 if paid in advance. There will be an opportunity to offer dana to the teacher at each class (teachers receive a portion of the reg fee and are supported by dana). Some scholarships and work-study are available. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
