Women’s Workshop: Mindfulness & Trauma

March 3 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm EST

Mindfulness and Trauma: A Workshop for Women*

A Half-Day Workshop with Julia Barry

For many people, mindfulness practice provides refuge from the daily experience of suffering, but for others who have experienced overwhelming life events, mindfulness practice can at times prove overwhelming. “Trauma” is not in the event itself but in how the nervous system responds to the event. Utilizing Somatic Experiencing® principles (mindfulness of body), we will work to develop skills to unwind these nervous system patterns and cultivate various ways to adapt mindfulness practices to better suit our needs. Individual and dyadic practices will be explored.

Women’s experiences have been brought to the forefront of collective consciousness recently. While this workshop is not intended to provide a group therapy environment, it is intended to provide a well-held space for women to explore some of their own experiences on a nervous system level and to develop skills and practices to navigate their own nervous system responses in the current climate.

*All female-identified people welcome.
