An event every week that begins at 7:30pm on Monday, repeating until August 13, 2018

A Four Week Series with Melissa McKay

It was heartening to hear the wise words of Martin Luther King quoted by the Reverend Michael Curry at the Royal Wedding this May that, “We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”

The ancient Buddhist teaching of metta meditation is a training in discovering and harnessing this power of love.  The sutta’s say in practicing metta we familiarize ourselves with this particular quality, we see it’s effect on our own mind and body and how it expands our hearts and minds, overcomes our fears and self doubt and we thereby gain faith and trust in it as a truly trustworthy, helpful and powerful force.

In this 4 week series we will learn metta meditation technique and tools for how to give this energy (as the suttas suggest) the reins of our lives or make it the vehicle of our expression to see and experience for ourselves the real benefits of the practice.  The classes will be 30 minutes guided meditation, 30 minutes dharma talk and 30 minutes Q and A.

Cost: $25 per evening or $85 if paid in advance, and the offering of dana to the teacher. Scholarships and work-study are available. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds$100 Plus Monthly Supporters attend for no cost. To RSVP as a monthly supporter, click here.
