POC Non-Residential Retreat

September 17, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm PDT

A Non-Residential Weekend Retreat with JoAnna Harper, Devin Berry, and Leslie Booker

September 15 – 17, 2017
Melrose and Santa Monica

Please join us for ATS’s inaugural People Of Color non-residential weekend retreat!!

As we grow in our awareness that People of Color suffer in specific ways in this country, Against the Stream would like to support the needs of our POC members by having a non-residential weekend of practice designated for the POC community. This will allow the opportunity for all those who self identify as People of Color to practice, dialogue and commune in the joys and struggles that People of Color face both on and off the cushion.

  • Friday, September 15th 7:30-9:00 for the weekly POC sangha sit, Melrose
  • Saturday, September 16th 10-4:30 at ATS, Melrose (sitting, talks and organized discussions)
  • Sunday, September 17th 10-4:30 at ATS, Santa Monica (deepening our practice, shared potluck lunch, closing ceremony)

The hope is that all will attend all three offerings of the weekend; if not possible please come to what you can. For those interested in racial justice issues that do not identify as a POC, please visit our White Allies for Social Justice group.

  • Friday only: $15
  • Saturday only: Sliding $45-$108
  • Sunday only: Sliding $45-$108
  • Complete Weekend: Sliding $85-$200

Please pay at the highest level you can afford. A portion of the registration fee supports the teachers and the rest goes to ATS and makes it possible for us to provide scholarships for those who may not otherwise be able to attend. Scholarships and work-study are available. No one is turned away for lack of funds.
