Taking Refuge in Community: A Daylong for Young Adults

A Daylong Retreat with Devon Cresci and Enrique Collazo
Saturday, April 29th
San Francisco

When the Buddha taught about community he suggested it was a place to take refuge in hard times. The friendships we build through the dharma can be relationships that sustain us and help us to live an awake life. We invite Young Adults 19-35 to spend a day diving into personal practice, self discovery and community building. We will move between silent practice and relational mindfulness exercises. If you have been craving deeper connections, are interested in discovering the goodness of practice community or are just interested in connecting with more folks on your age on the path, come and discover what is possible.

Open to all young adults: ages 19-35.

Cost: $35-75 sliding scale, plus dana (donation) to support the teacher. Scholarships are available. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Walk in registration welcome.

Devon Cresci has been a dharma practitioner for 16 years. Currently she works part time for Mindful Schools as a guiding teacher for their online classes and full time as a Social Worker in a public high school in San Francisco. There, she teaches mindfulness to both students and staff. She is passionate about bringing these practices into SF public schools. In her summers, she teaches with iBme, on teen mindfulness retreats and assists the Young Adult retreat at Spirit Rock. She is sober and finds the dharma deeply supportive on the path of recovery. Devon identifies as a queer woman and is heartfelt about the power of practice to increase peace and freedom for all.

Enrique Collazo is a Buddhist  meditation teacher, and experienced public speaker. Enrique is trained by by Noah Levine and Vinny Ferarro. The majority of the work Enrique does is teaching mindfulness to young people. Enrique works for Challenge Day during the school year, teaching emotional intelligence and social skills for thousands of young people each year and teaches mindfulness retreats for young people in the summer. He has extensive experience bringing meditative interventions into jails, and addiction treatment facilities.
