Dharma in Relationship

A Four Week Series with Cheryl Slean

Four Mondays Beginning Aug 7, 2017

7:30pm – 9:00pm

No one tells us this when we’re growing up, but being with other people is intense and emotionally evocative. Relationship can sometimes seem like the last frontier of spiritual practice, especially relating with those we’re closest to. Because there’s much that goes on inside when we’re interacting with others, it’s easy to lose awareness and fall back into old, unhelpful habits of relating.  But bringing gentle mindfulness and dharma reflection to our encounters is not only possible, it’s a deeply educational process that paves the way for significant positive change.

This class series will focus on improving our relationships by including them in our daily life dharma practice. Through reflection, group process and meditation we’ll explore relational topics like compassion with safe boundaries, forgiveness vs. blame, the need to change or judge others, wise speech, and useful relational mindfulness practices. You’ll come away from the class with skills and understandings that will help you find your way toward more harmonious, compassionate and fulfilling relationships.

Class dates: Aug 7, 14, 21, 28

Cost: $20 per evening or $70 if paid in advance. There will be an opportunity to offer dana to the teacher at each class (teachers receive a portion of the reg fee and are supported by dana). Please pay at the highest level you can afford to support our programs and those who have less. Some scholarships and work-study are available. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
